From the moment you arrive we want you to feel welcomed into our community. We hope you feel like this is a place for you and your family.
The word of God (the Bible) is essential to everything we do at First Baptist Watauga. Whether in Bible studies, or in the songs we sing, at the center is God’s Word. We preach expositionally, meaning that we go through entire books of the Bible verse-by-verse to understand all of what the Bible teaches and learn about who Jesus is.
Pull into 6124 Plum St., and you’ll find easy parking, a warm welcome, and a team ready to help you feel at home. Grab a coffee, meet some new friends, and jump into life with us! We have Bible studies for all ages as well as a nursery for little ones. Kids and students connect midweek, but Sundays are for families growing together in worship, community, and mission.
At our core, we are a family on mission — here to glorify God, encourage one another, and share the Gospel with the world. We live this out by giving generously, serving our community, caring for the poor, and sending people out locally and globally to proclaim the name of Jesus. Whether across the street or across the world, we believe every believer is called and sent. When you come, prepare to be equipped with His Word to go and make disciples.
Come as you are. You'll find a wide range of dress at First Baptist Watauga, from shorts to dresses and sport coats.
If you're checking in kids into the nursery (infants -kindergarten) , we recommend arriving at least twenty minutes before the service. Feel free to come early and grab a cup of coffee on your way into the service.
Absolutely. During service, we have childcare for infants-kindergarten in our nursery with our vetted and background checked volunteers, but we encourage worship with the whole family.
If you own a Bible, yes, bring it! We begin each sermon by opening our Bibles. We teach from the Christian Standard Bible (CSB). If you don't own a Bible, we have Bibles available and would love for you to take one of them with you as our gift.
The simple answer to that question is both! At First Baptist Watauga, we care less about the age of the song or the style, and more about these things: that what we sing is rooted in God’s Word, that what we sing is singable for God’s people, and that what we sing is ultimately for God’s glory.
We actually have a Spotify playlist with many of the songs and hymns we sing collectively as a church body. Feel free to check it out!
Every Sunday, we come together to worship Jesus and study His Word. We open our services by reading the Bible and respond in song (sometimes with a full band, sometimes in a more laid-back setting). One of our pastors then teaches from the Bible verse-by-verse, to teach us about God and how the Bible applies to us. We wrap up our service with a chance for anyone to respond, where we have people ready to pray with you.
